Redditch once stitched the world, making 90% of all needles. Today, the local business landscape is a tapestry of industries leading an economic and cultural renaissance in the town. We’re here to support Redditch businesses with all the training they need, including a full syllabus of fire safety training courses. Our fire warden courses in Redditch are one of our most popular, helping local companies to meet their statutory obligations under national legislation.
What are my statutory obligations?
The statutes of theRegulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 oblige all companies to take steps to reduce the risk of fire in the workplace, and to appoint staff to manage a safe evacuation if fire breaks out. Under the terms of the order, you must carry out a fire risk assessment of your premises and appoint the number of fire wardens or fire marshals that this assessment recommends.
How Many Fire Marshals Do I Need?
The number of fire marshals you require willtake into account several factors, including the nature of your business, the layout of your premises and the size of your staff or regular visitor numbers. The larger and more diverse your business the more fire wardens will be required. Deputy wardens will also be needed to cover holidays and sickness. The Order has advice on calculating the number of marshals you needto protect your premises and to meet your obligations, and our expert team can work with you to finalise numbers.
Fire Marshal Training inRedditch
Once you have set the requirement and appointed your team, they will need to be professionally trained to fulfil their role, both on a day to day basis and in a genuine emergency situation. Fire marshals have a responsibility to reduce risks in the workplace by raising fire awareness and keeping escape routes clear. They are also required to step up and take charge in an emergency, helping all staff in their section to exit the building swiftly and safely, and checking that no one has been left behind.
About the course
The role may have a lot of different responsibilities, but we can cover them all in just four hours. We prefer, where possible, to conduct your training in house, as this means we can show your staff the genuine risks in their environment, rather than teaching theory in the classroom. We can help them improve evacuation procedures and demonstrate things that could slow them down, helping them to save time and even save lives. The course is taught by continuous assessment and all who attend are awarded a certificate which is recognised by the Health and Safety Executive.
