Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
In 2005, a variety of different fire safety regulations were brought together under a single Order, to simplify the process and make it easier to understand your obligations. Two of the key requirements of this Order are your obligation to conduct a fire risk analysis of your premises, and to use this to decide on the number of fire marshals or fire wardens you require.
Fire Marshal Training in Luton
Fire marshals are usually volunteers who agree to take on extra responsibilities to prevent fires and to protect their colleagues should fire break out. Their role includes making their colleagues aware of fire risks and how to reduce them, and making sure that the fire provisions, such as escape routes, extinguishers and fire doors are well maintained. When fire breaks out, they are responsible for evacuating their appointed section as quickly and safely as possible, checking for anyone left behind and offering assistance as required.
How Many Fire Marshals Do I Need?
The number of fire marshals required relates to a number of different factors including the size of your staff, they layout of your buildings and the nature of your work. This can range from a single fire marshal for a basic office or shop, to multiple marshals for diverse or dangerous businesses. You will also need extra marshals to cover for absences such as sickness and holidays.
In House Training
Our Luton fire warden training course takes just four hours and can be arranged at a time to suit your shifts and schedules. Training in house also saves your company in terms of time and travel costs, minimising the time away from work for your nominated staff. Moreover, it makes sense to train your fire wardens in house, as we are able to show them exactly what to look out for in their own environment, how they can improve safety and how they can speed up evacuations. The course is continually assessed and leads to a formal qualification recognised under the Order.
